Bomb Sniffing Dogs Get A Boost

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit
Authority (MARTA) received a major financial boost for its
bomb detection dog program on Monday.Officials from Wal-Mart
presented MARTA police with a $25,000 donation to help cover
expenses for the program.
The dogs are trained to sniff for bombs
and explosives materials. Officials said the donation will
allow MARTA to expand its dog program. "We've got one
person in training right now. We've got a slot at Auburn
for one dog and a slot at Langley Air Force for another
TSA dog," said MARTA police chief Gene Wilson.Wilson
said MARTA dogs were on patrol at Penn Station in New York
City during the recent scare over an alleged bombing planned
there.
